Historical Legacy Baghal State was established in the early 13th century by Raja Ajay Dev, a noble of the Parmar dynasty of Malwa, Madhya Pradesh. Following the devastating sack of Malwa by Iltutmish, commander of Sultan Balban, Raja Ajay Dev sought refuge in the Himalayas and laid the foundations of the Baghal kingdom, with Arki as its capital. Padm Lakshmi Niwas, an integral part of this legacy, served as the administrative and residential hub for the rulers of Baghal.
